Also this year’s rainy season has caused flash floods, which covered many provinces mainly in northern and central Thailand. Public transport and air transport in the country operate without major disruptions (you can only expect occasional traffic obstructions). The situation is worst in the province of Ayutthaya. We recommend all the tourists going to Thailand a continuous monitoring of the situation.

Flood Report on October 22-24, 2011 - flooding may persist for another six weeks

On Saturday there was a significant increase in the level of water in the Chao Phraya river. Flooding occurred in several local streets, e. g. on Sam Ren Road (Dusit district) and in the vicinity of Siriraj Hospital (Thonburi). Also other Bangkok areas near the river are at risk. Flood banks are strengthened in the areas closer to the center.

So far airport and public transport (subway, buses, taxis, tuk-tuks) operate in Bangkok without any changes. Some shopping and business centers secured their buildings with sandbags.

The most flood-endangered districts are: Don Mueang, Lak Si, Bang Khen, Chatuchak, Bang Sue and Sai Mai. Residents of areas exposed to the greatest danger have already been properly instructed in order to find a temporary refuge in institutions prepared by BMA.

The total number of fatalities of flooding in Thailand rose to 356.

Prime Minister of Thailand announced that floods in the country may persist even for six weeks.

The favourite species of fish copied in making these little masterpieces is carp – possibly because of its rhombus-like shape, which is perfect for creating an interesting composition.
