If you are from Europe, USA, or most countries with a temperate climate, Thailand is a country remote in geographical and climatic terms. This exoticism is a great part of the charm to many travellers who suffer a rainy autumn and then a harsh winter at home – at that time Thailand is the place to be and the tourist season there flourishes.

The majority of Thailand has a tropical monsoon climate - only the south of the country (the Malay Peninsula) is under the influence of a typically equatorial climate.
Three seasons can be distinguished in Thailand:
- Hot and Dry season
- Hot and Wet Season
- Warm and Dry Season
The Hot and Dry Season falls between March and May, when the temperature in Bangkok exceeds 40º C.
The Hot and Wet Season runs from June till October. This is when temperatures go down a little. The air humidity is very high, reaching 98%
The Warm and Dry Season falls between November and February. This is when the weather is the most beautiful, with temperatures that tend to be high but not as high as in the Hot Season, and it hardly ever rains – this is the best time to visit the country.

Temperatures and precipitation
The average monthly air temperatures in Thailand range between 20 and 35 ºC. Northern Thailand is cooler while the Malay Peninsula warmer. The typical feature of Thailand’s climate is the frequent torrential rains – one of the reasons we can admire the evergreen tropical forests and picturesque water cascades whose force never diminishes all the year round.
The annual rainfall varies according to the region of the country. Definitely the highest annul rainfall is recorded in the south – 5000mm. Considerably lower rainfall is characteristic of the Korat Plateau (800 – 1000mm) and windward slopes of the mountains of Northern Thailand(1000 mm).
